I've never had such a love hate relationship with an album as I do with Adventures self titled EP. Within the first 30 seconds, I was ready to turn it off and pretend it never happened. By the end of the second track though, I was starting to actually enjoy it. Something about it is so interesting, you can't pull yourself away. For instance, in the middle of many of the calm, extremely alternative tracks the vocalist breaks down into a fierce howl. Unexpected, and that's what makes it brilliant. How many female alternative artists do you see crossing over into hardcore territory these days? It's that element that makes the EP so great. It's an album that depends largely on the taste of the listener, yet caters to many music tastes at once.
To sum it up, Adventure's new EP is definitely one of the weirder selections I've heard... but is that really a bad thing?
